What do you mean by 'rare' gemstones........there are many colored gemstones used in jewelry today-your best bet is the check out the jewelry stores in your area just for availability & price. Also, HSN & QVC offer unusual gemstones....check it out just to get an idea of wht's out there and if you see a stone you like, then research it before deciding. One website you can try is Jewels For Me...here again, just to see what's out there.( Besides the site is fun as you can 'design' a ring) Some 'rare' or unusual gemstones that many people are not familiar with are tanzanite, iolite, morganite, prasiolite, chrome diopside, ametrine,aventurine....also, garnets come in ALL colors except blue, some of the green ones (tsavorite) rival emeralds in color saturation....sapphires come in all colors AND blue, including the famous star sapphires (really cool gemstones-I knew a gal who had a blue star sapphire as her engagement stone) HSN & QVC feature many of these exotic stones with videos of the rings they are set in.....this may be a quick way just to get an idea of what you may like...and it's fun to check out the 'sparklies'. well don't buy it off the internet first of all. this is an investment, not costume jewelry. you wouldn't buy a house or car off the internet wouldyou? no. don't limit yourself to engagement settings, basically any ring with any stone in itthat you wear onyour left ring finger isyour engagement ring.
