Tanzanite is the Gemstone of the 20th Century

If you're a fan of gemstone jewelry or gemstones in particular, you should make Tanzanite on of your top favorites. Tanzanite has the distinction of being named "Gemstone of the 20th Century" when discovered way back in 1967. Tanzanite is named after the East African state of Tanzania where the only deposits of Tanzanite have been found. Since the stone is found in only one special location in the entire world, it is especially rare. This has made Tanzanite gain worldwide fame as a fine gemstone indeed.

This rare Tanzanite is a member of the zoisite species. In good quality the color is ultramarine to sapphire bluebut the favorite or most popular color is a saturated blue, which shows a purplish hue that people just adore. It is simply dazzling to behold.

Tanzanite features minor hardness (6.5-7 on Mohs scale) which makes it durable, but which also means it needs experienced cutters to treat it carefully when cutting or adding it to jewelry. Tanzanite jewelry should highly valued and always be worn with care by its owner. Today, Tanzanite can be cut in all imaginable shapes and formsfrom classical round cuts to imaginative designer cuts. It's a very, very versatile gem for sure.

Almost all tanzanite in the world must be heat treated to produce its dazzling violet-blue color.Tanzanite has become so popular that in October of 2002 the American Gem Trade Association (AGTA) announced that tanzanite has joined other gems like zircon in the list of birthstones for the month of December. This makes Tanzanite a great gift for any friend or loved one born in that month. Tanzanite in especially good qualities and larger sizes are in serious demand and command high prices.

Another bit of Tanzanite history: The legendary New York jewelers Tiffany & Co were the first to promote tanzanite as a fine gemstone. Today, modern Tanzanite remains very popular with collectors around the world.

If you are seeking tanzanite, or any other fine gemstone or collectible coin or jewelry, there is no better place to start that shopping online at Eagle National Mint. Their selection and service is second to none. Recommend Tanzanite Issues

Question by no_name22: Wedding Ring what do you think about this? I am a very artistic person and I love this ring, but I wonder if it is appropiate for a wedding ring. I'm not big on expensive rings we tried the whole shopping for rings at the mall thing, but to no avail. But at least we found out my ring size. LOL So what do you think of this ring. The only real problem that I have with it is I think that the gem size is too big 9mm (I'm not even sure what that would equal to in ct) it makes it seem like a novelty item, or costume jewerly. The 2 links below are the 1st ring the 2nd option (link 3) is the same 9mm stone but not as unique in my eyes. So What does every1 think. I'm open to everyones input, I know that my future hubby likes them cause it fits my personallity & not to expensive Lol http://plodowski.com/collection/index.php?category=4&item=7&list=5 http://www.thegivingtreegallery.com/9mm-Tanzanite-Tension-Ring-T-Plodowski-p/tp705tz.htm http://www.thegivingtreegallery.com/9mm-Round-White-Zircon-T-Plodowski-p/tp721wz.htm Best answer for Wedding Ring what do you think about this?:

i personally don't like the way the bit goes across the stone, but thats just my personal taste, i like the last one, i think that they aren't the most practical rings in teh world, in the sense that they look like they would catch on stuff, fabrics etc, and prob would require a lot of cleaning, but i do think its great that you want to go with somethin thats unique to you. you are the one that will wear it till the day you die, so it should be something that you feel 100% happy with. there is such a cliche out there about what wedding rings "should" look like, and its ridiculous. you should be happy with your ring!!

Answer by ask&answer :) level 4
i like number 3 the most

Answer by prmdc_girl
Of those three, I like the third one best. I'm not a fan of the "wires" going overtop of the jewels on the other two. But whichever you like best! It's not any of our rings!

Answer by Christina
i think th at the ring looks really nice and unique, and its nice that you are going for something different.but personally i wouldn't choose something like that,i don't know maybe cos im a traditional bride-to-be,you know something like a nice silver wedding band or something, but then again, each bride is different. but it certainly does look good, and don't bother about what other people say about wedding rings should only be bands,as long as you and husband are happy with it,you should really go for it!!! why don't you take this picture to a really good reputable jewelry store and ask them if they get the stone maybe in a smaller size what you prefer?? i hope i helped in some way at least. good luck with your planning and your BIG DAY, congrats!!

Answer by Fawn
It's unique... and I appreciate unique things... but I would never wear this ring. I think it's just... too much. However, if you like it, I don't see why you couldn't use it as your wedding ring. You can do whatever you want. I wouldn't say any of those three rings are ugly. They're just odd, which could be a good thing... on another woman's finger. I'm just a fan of simpler jewelry, especially when it's made to be worn -every day-.

Answer by Im awesome & that pisses you off
i personally think they are the ugliest rings ive ever seen. they look fake and gaudy.

Answer by shelby
I personally think they are gaudy and...confusing (lol), BUT it's not my ring =] it's something You want, so you really shouldn't care what other people think: pick what makes you happy Congrats on getting married =] -Shelby Bride to be

Answer by Cammie
I love those rings. Yes, they are very modern and not traditional at all. Pick what you like .

Answer by goddess_gaia
The remind me of bottle openers=/ If I had to choose it would be the third, but only because it doesn't have the spring band going across the gem. I love the color of the second, though.
